The morning rays burst through my stained glass window
I could not bare to sleep another minute
I really did leap right out of bed
I did my morning ab work out, push ups, dance
And put on my tennis shoes
I run down the street, my lungs burning already
My fingers and toes are numb from the chill
The morning air is crisp and lively
And in this moment, I feel alive
I run past houses with lights still off
and other people who are leaving for work
I run past trees whose leaves are falling
and dew on each blade of grass in the neighborhood
A kitten cries out to me and I stop to pet it
I sit on the sidewalk and stretch my legs
My sweat is drying and I start to chill, so I’m off again
Back to my house and into the shower
I turn it on as hot as it can go and my skin turns red
I’m catching my breath and feeling my muscles relax
I set my alarm for an hour away and I am back to sleep
I lay my head on my cool, silk pillow
